Freefrog is built to collect as little as possible. We do not sell your data, run behavioral ad-tracking, or profile you to farm attention. Because we run a consumer-to-consumer marketplace, we only collect data necessary to facilitate secure listings, prevent fraud, and process payouts. You can see a live, plain-language breakdown of the data tied to your account in-app under Privacy & Data.
Account: A username and email address. Your email is stored encrypted at rest and indexed via a blind index so we can log you in without holding it in plaintext. We do not collect your date of birth unless required for seller verification.
Marketplace Activity: Items you list, pricing data, purchase history, and shipping addresses provided by buyers to fulfill orders.
Payments & Seller Verification (KYC): Payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. If you sell items on Freefrog, Stripe collects identity and banking verification data (including corporate or tax information where legally mandated) to comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws. Freefrog does not store your credit card numbers or raw bank credentials on our servers.
Messages: Direct messages between two users who have both set up chat encryption are end-to-end encrypted and unreadable by us; other messages (un-set-up, legacy, group, and image attachments) are stored server-side to prevent fraud and resolve transaction disputes.
Limited technical data: Minimal logs needed for security and operation.
To operate the C2C marketplace, authenticate your identity, process secure transactions, route shipping details to sellers, manage payout balances, mitigate platform fraud, resolve order disputes, and comply with tax reporting laws. Your email is never used for marketing without explicit opt-in.
Platform Users: We share necessary shipping names and addresses with sellers strictly to fulfill orders. Sellers are contractually restricted from using this data for any external marketing.
Service Providers: Standard infrastructure tools used to run Freefrog: Stripe (payment split processing and identity verification), Resend (transactional receipts and order updates), and our hosting/CDN layer Cloudflare.
Legal Disclosures: We disclose data to law enforcement or tax authorities if legally compelled. We do not sell or rent personal data.
Widgets and embedded external services may process data within their frames. They are sandboxed where possible but operate under their own privacy policies. Treat them as you would any third-party site.
Account credentials and emails are encrypted at rest; eligible direct messages support end-to-end encryption. Transaction environments are tokenized via Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can delete your account in-app, which removes the personal data described on the Privacy & Data page. Note that transactional history, ledger records, and payout compliance documentation must be retained where required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Contact us to exercise them.
Freefrog is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact lilypad@freefrog.com.
Freefrog is operated and hosted within the United States. If you are accessing the service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revisions. Because we do not store your email address, we cannot send direct email notifications. Instead, material changes will be communicated directly within the platform. If we make significant changes, you will be prompted to review and re-accept the updated terms upon your next login or interaction with the service.
